Deprivation
Jorge Miguel
Jorge Miguel is a photographer who creates portraits with the use f unusual props. What i found most interesting with his work was the use of colour. I this series he took monochrome pictures of his models. Their skin looks white ad pale and almost blends in with the background. His work includes questionable props which contrasts in colour with the rest of the phoographs. The use of colour allowed his props to become the focus of his photographs. i wanted to research the work of mmiguel because i wanted to explore the use f material d how it could portray someones identity.
Lee Jeffries
Lee Jeffries completed a series of homeless people. From this i want to focus on the texture and colour that he's included. Unlike Miguels photographs, Jeffries worked in black and white. Instead of using props and colour he created this series with simplicity. He was able to display the person by focusing only on their face and the texture of their skin
Lee Jeffries inspired photoshoot.
Inspired by the work of lee Jeffries I had take portrait photographs including only the hands of face of my model. Using Photoshop i desaturated the colour and enhanced detail by using the hypass filter on a second layer.
Luca Pierro
Luca Pierro was another photographer i wanted to explore because of his use of materials in his photographs. I particularly liked how he used some materials to enhance different arts and features of the face.
Luca Pierro inspired photoshoot.
I this shoot i covered my models face with flour after being inspired by some of Pierro's work. I thought if i directed my model to make different expressions the flour would enhance the creases in the face making the expression look more exaggerated
Dehydration, sanitation, warmth, malnourishment. From looking at Lee Jeffries who focused on homelessness i wanted to research and display the other necessities to live and the lack of them and how i could use different materials to suggest this.
Lee Jeffries Inspired photoshoot
After brainstorming the idea of being deprived I did this shoot attempting to display dehydration in my model. Being inspired by the use of materials in Luca Pierro's work. I covered my models face using powder in attempt to make her skin look dry. In Photoshop I exaggerated and enhanced the contrast and colours in the photographs.
Lee Jeffries and Luca Pierro inspired photoshoot
Inspired by the work of Lee Jeffries I wanted to create a dirty, spoiled look on my model. To do this I used acrylic. This idea was inspired by Luca Pierro and his use of materials on models to create an identity for the model. I had watered down the paint and dripped it down the face and hands of my model.
Using Photoshop i was able to darken the background which brought more focus to the models face. I was also able to enhance the detail by sharpening and creating more of a contrast in the colours of the photographs.
Luca Pierro Ispired photoshoot
In this shoot I wanted to experiment more using Photoshop. I used make up around the eyes and cheekbones so I could easily enhance them through Photoshop. Using the burn tool i was able to darken areas of the face making my model look more deathly. Through liquifying on Photoshop I attempted to make my model look almost malnourished by pushing her cheeks in and making her bones stick out more than usual. although this shoot was heavily Photoshopped I thought
the use of make up gave me guidelines when editing.
